ROY ROMAN has acquired an incredible reputation for playing in
the extreme high register with uncanny power, sound and endurance second to
none, with credit for developing this talent going to his mentor, Roy Stevens, and
dearest friend "Cat" Anderson.
ROY ROMAN's super trumpet has appeared with the "Who's Who" of the
entertainment world. Roy's hard-driving sound has propelled Bob Hope, Ethel
Merman, Sammy Davis, Gene Krupa, Count Basie, Franki Valli and the Four
Seasons, Lloyd Price, Onzy Matthews Big Band, Collective Black Artists Orchestra,
Lee Morgan's Octet, Dizzy Gillespie's Big Band, the original Benny Goodman
Quartet, Clark Terry's Big Band, Lionel Hamptons Big Band, Arthur Prysock,
Tito Puente, Machito, Charlie Palmieri, Eddie Palmieri, Clifford Jordan, Philly Joe
Jones, Stanley Cowell, Jimmy Owens, the Andrew Sisters, Newport Jazz Festival
All- Stars which included Curtis Fuller, Cat Anderson, Joe Newsman Wally
Davenport and ROY ROMAN's lead trumpet. Roy has done a number of extensive
European tours and has been around the world. Roy has been inducted into Le Hot
Jazz Club de France, #108
He has appeared before Queen Elizabeth and Princess Grace of Monaco at the
Sports Palace on the French Riviera, and has appeared at three presidential
Inaugural Balls for three different Presidents - Nixon, Ford and Reagan, and has
received special commendations from both President Reagan and President Carter
for community service and volunteer work. Besides these fabulous credits, Roy has
appeared with the New Jersey Symphony and as special guest and principal
trumpet with the Ohio Symphony performing the King David Suite.
Roy's blistering trumpet takes him from Low F# to double and triple C's. These are
tones that float nine ledger lines above the staff - which makes Roy much sought
after for his clinics at colleges, universities and private educational groups around
the country.
